The Business Process Excellence (BPE) program at IICMR was a highly engaging and insightful event, designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of AI-driven business process evolution. The program successfully brought together industry leaders, academicians, and students to explore the impact of artificial intelligence on business processes, decision-making, and organizational transformation.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sarita Samson, Assistant Professor and BPE Coordinator, who set the tone for the day and highlighted the significance of BPE in linking academic learning with practical industry insights. Dr. Rajendra Agawane, also a BPE Coordinator, played a vital role in organizing the program.
Dr. Abhay Kulkarni, Director of IICMR, presented the Progressive Journey of the BPE Continuum, tracing its evolution and emphasizing how the initiative continues to drive excellence and innovation in business education. The event formally recognized the distinguished guests through a felicitation ceremony, followed by the digital lighting of the lamp.
The first keynote session, “AI Advantage – Streamlining and Reimagining Business Processes,” was delivered by Mr. Parag Auty, GM & Head TQM, Tata Motors. He shared valuable insights on leveraging AI to enhance operational efficiency and transform business processes. This was followed by Mr. Amit Talwar, Country Director of AGCO Corporation, who spoke on “Intelligent Business Process Transformation with AI”, engaging students through interactive discussions and practical examples from the industry.
The program featured a panel discussion on “Smart Business, Smarter Processes: Harnessing AI for Transformation,” moderated by Dr. Sarita Samson. The panel included Mr. Sunil Manikani (Doctoral Researcher, Emerging Technologies, Generative AI), Mr. Vivek Sonar (Head, IMCR, Product Development, Mahindra Trucks & Bus Division), and Mr. Vikram Dusane (Sr. Manager IT, Portfolio Management, GCC Leader). The discussion provided students with deep insights into real-world applications of AI, emerging technologies, and strategies for process optimization.
The day also included a book release ceremony for “भारतीय उद्योग पर्वातील कर्मयोगी – RATAN TATA” by Mr. Jayprakash Zende, celebrating leadership and entrepreneurship in India, coordinated by Puja Gavande. This was followed by an engaging Coffee with Corporate session led by Dr. Jitendra Joshi, Chairman & MD of Abhi Group of Companies and Founder & President of GIBF. Dr. Joshi shared his experiences and emphasized the continuing importance of human decision-making, ethics, and values in an AI-driven business world. The session was coordinated by Dr. Dipti Bajpai.
The program concluded with remarks and a vote of thanks by Dr. Rajendra Agawane, acknowledging the contributions of speakers, faculty, and students. The active participation of all faculty members enhanced the learning experience and ensured the seamless execution of the program.
The BPE program was a resounding success, providing students with a holistic understanding of AI-driven business process evolution. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, students gained practical knowledge, industry perspectives, and inspiration for future careers. The collaboration of faculty, industry experts, and students made the event both insightful and impactful.
BPE is a flagship event of MBA@IICMR initiated to link the academics with the actual environment in Industry and give MBA students, an exposure to Corporate Business world.
