This event was held to conduct the 64th national convention of the Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering (IIIE), Pune. It was held on the 16th and 17th of December,2022 by Pune chapter. The topic was “India’s quest for $ 5 Trillion Economy -Role of Industrial Engineering.”
This two-day convention was attended by almost two hundred delegates including engineers, academicians and students from across the country. The convention included panel discussions, paper presentation, theme paper contests and engineering contests.
Our students of MBA@IICMR first year batch, as volunteers of this event were delighted by this opportunity given to them by institute and by the council members of the Pune chapter.
They were there in the event for the whole two days. Each one of student were assigned with some or the other work, a few of them were at the registration desk, which was divided in three parts one for companies’ names starting from A-M, the other for companies names starting from M-Z and one for non-companies and individuals.
The rest of students were in crystal hall, hall in crystal, senate hall and regal hall for handling the work there. Students handled to manage smooth flow of the presentations and discussions. They also handled the mementos and certificates distribution. They also helped the coordinators in the food department. So this was all about we going and learning there from them, now comes the most important part that is what they learnt in this two day event.
Some of the outcomes or key takeaways from the experience mentioned by students as follows:
Practical learning: The experience provided practical learning that cannot be acquired solely through reading books or attending lectures. This first-hand experience can help individuals gain confidence and develop important skills that can be applied in real-world situations.
Time management skills: The experience helped participants learn how to manage their time effectively, particularly in situations where deadlines are tight or unexpected changes occur.
Presentation skills: Participants learned how to manage presentations and discussions even when time is running out or when a group member is absent. This skill is particularly valuable in the corporate world where efficient communication is crucial.
Networking: Participants had the opportunity to interact with industrialists and gain valuable insights into their work and businesses. This networking opportunity can help individuals build connections that may be useful in their future career.
Understanding industry demands: Participants gained a better understanding of what the industry demands from freshers like them. This knowledge can help individuals develop the necessary skills and knowledge to make an impact in their chosen field.
Improved communication: The experience helped participants develop their communication skills, particularly when interacting with industry experts and professionals. This can help individuals convey their ideas effectively and build relationships with their colleagues and peers.
In the end students would like to thank institute for giving us this opportunity to learn so much and to get such a grand exposure from an event that is held on a national level and would also like to extend gratitude to Pune chapter for this valuable opportunity.
